Trailer Trash: Dark Shadows

Chick 1 says:

I’ve been watching the buzz around the interwebs about this Tim Burton directed movie but, having never watched the 70s show on which it’s based, I have to say I really didn’t care.  But now that the first trailer is out, I’m intrigued.  I like Tim Burton but he doesn’t always knock it out of the park.  But he has stacked the deck as far as cast is concerned and I love the quirky, self-aware tone.  This could be a couple of hours of fun.

I Can’t Wait!: Alice in Wonderland Trailer

Chick 1 says:madhatter

Finally, our first moving look at Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland.  I’m still excited about this project but I’m a little underwhelmed by the trailer.  Obviously a teaser, we see most of the major players and some fun special effects but nothing to really sink your teeth into.  (And no Alan Rickman, sadness!)  I want more. I guess that’s what a teaser’s supposed to do.  Enjoy.

Review: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

Chick 1 says:halfbloodprince

Based on the sixth book in the series, Half-Blood Prince is my favorite.  We get loads of info on Voldemort thanks to Dumbledore and his cabinet full of memories and Harry finally gets a clue about who his true love is.

The Basics: When Harry returns to Hogwarts for his sixth year, Dumbledore begins to train him in earnest for a final showdown with Voldemort and gives him an important mission concerning the new Potions Master.  Conveniently, Harry is acing Potions class with the help of a mysterious but ominous textbook.  Read more

I Can’t Wait: More Alice in Wonderland Pics

Chick 1 says:alice2

We’ve had a couple of glimpses of Tim Burton’s upcoming take on Alice In Wonderland, like this pic of Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter.  Yesterday, several more character portraits ,like this balloon-headed Helena Bonham Carter, and some delightful concept art were released.  I know this will be weird, but I am really looking forward to this.  And I have to say, while the first Mad Hatter picture looked like Johnny Depp, I think this one looks like Elijah Wood.  Look at the eyes & that gap in the teeth.  Does Johnny Depp have a gap in his teeth?  See the rest of them (including Johnny Depp as Elijah Wood as the Mad Hatter) here.  Plan to go down the rabbit hole March 5, 2010.

Review: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

Chick 1 says:orderofthephoenix

The fifth and my favorite in the series so far, I watched this last night with a friend who hadn’t seen it yet.  We were preping for the upcoming July release of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, the sixth movie and number one on my I Can’t Wait List for summer.

The Basics: Harry’s fifth year at Hogwarts is a bleak one indeed but he also begins to grow into the leader he’s destined to be.  Read more

Casting Notes

emmaalanChick 1 says:

A few more projects in development that have piqued my interest. Apparently, this week the theme is Harry Potter.

Old News: I’ve been mildly interested in Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland, currently filming in London.  Naturally, it features Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter but when Alan Rickman (Severus Snape in the Harry Potter series) was announced as the Caterpillar, I was completely sold.  I adore Rickman and would pay to watch him sort socks.  This movie has officially been moved to my I Can’t Wait list.  Check out the rest of this cast: Mia Wasikowska as Alice (Thank heavens Burton was original enough to cast someone besides Dakota Fanning or Abigail Breslin!  Yes, they’re talented but they’re not the only fish in the sea.), Helena Bonham Carter as the Red Queen, Anne Hathaway as the White Queen, Michael Sheen as the Cheshire Cat, & Crispin Glover as the Knave of Hearts.  Yes, this will be weird but it could also be freakin’ awesome!
